Hi, WE'RE ERICA+JON

PERSONAL

When we booked our trip to Chicago to work with the Chicago White Sox, we knew we had a problem. Neither one of us had ever been to the Windy City, and we had no idea what to do. Thankfully, we have this amazing community of people like you who gave us some pointers! So here’s a HUGE thank you to all of you amazing friends in our social media community!

Now we only spent a week in Chicago, so by no means are we experts. That said, we did have multiple comments from locals saying that we did just about everything there was to do and wondered how we fit it all in! So in case you find yourself in the same shoes, we’ve put together our list of the Top 5 Things to do in Chicago!

Chicago River Architectural Boat Tour

We waited until our final day in Chicago for this experience, and let’s just say it was worth the wait! We heard from multiple people that this was a must-do while visiting. For us it seemed like a great compromise since Jon likes museums and history and Erica likes soaking up the sun! The tour was about an hour and a half and took us up and down both sides of the river explaining the stories behind the buildings in the city and the history of Chicago. It was the perfect way to see the city and the tour guides made everything entertaining!

Willis Tower

If you are a Chicagoan, it’s Sears Tower, but technically it’s now called Willis Tower. This stop wasn’t very high on Jon’s to do list, but it was a total non-negotiable for Erica. She loves heights, so riding an elevator to the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower and standing on a glass floor seemed like a great idea to her, but to Jon it sounded like a nightmare! The view was incredible, but something about standing on glass and squinting to see the cars below made Jon’s experience a little quicker than Erica’s!

Millenium Park

We’ve heard about Millennium Park, but hearing about it and visiting it are two different things! It’s an amazing city park that made us day dream about walking over the the amphitheater for a summer evening concert! One of the biggest attractions at the park is Cloud Gate, better known as The Bean! It’s an amazing sculpture that is completely reflective and looks like a drop of mercury. It made for the perfect selfie spot!

Rooftop Meals

Since we aren’t city dwellers, we wanted to take advantage of as many rooftop meals as we could! Chicago has some amazing food, and we visited a few local places with rooftop seating that we absolutely loved! The Rock Bottom Brewery, The J Parker, and The London House were all winners in our book!

White Sox Game

Of course we’d mention this, right!? But seriously, heading to the ball park was so much fun we did it twice! We loved the open air park, especially when the seagulls flew in and landed all over the field in the middle of the game! It definitely helped that they won both nights we were there. We did visit Wrigley Field as well, but Guaranteed Rate Field on the South Side has a special place in our hearts! 🙂
