It’s been a while, but it’s baaaaaaack! Our Friday Top Five! Most Friday’s we share our Friday Top Five, a recap of the week we’ve had. If you are new to our Friday Top Five blog series, hop over to the very first one, Part 1 to start! It will help you understand our Friday Top Five and the fun we like to share here!
This week we are cheating a little. We haven’t done a Friday Top Five in a few weeks because, well our last few weeks have been super crazy! So this week, we’re sharing some of our highlights from fun moments over the last 2 weeks!
Camping Trip
Last week we left for a family first – camping. We are both seasoned pros, but our kids…not so much. Brody has been on two trips and done well, but Paislee had never been before so this would be all new territory. The good news, it was a huge success! Both kids did great in the woods, and we all had so much fun making new memories together! We also had a camping first for us all on this trip – a bear walking through camp! Not near camp. Not in the general area. But THROUGH camp. We were on a walk back to our campsite when a very mature black bear walked right in front of us. Luckily, Erica and the kids got to safety while Jon scared it away, but it was an uneasy night’s sleep thinking of a bear being in the area! One other thing worth mentioning about our trip – Erica caught the biggest fish. No surprises there, it’s kind of what she’s known for!
Show Low
Our summer escape has been Show Low ever since Erica’s parents moved there a year ago. We love getting to cooler temperatures and spending our time with family! It’s also Erica’s favorite place to go when we have a heavy post-processing load. Nothing beats editing photos on the back deck with a cool mountain breeze! We really enjoyed the rain storm that rolled in as we pulled out of town to head home. The smell of fresh rain in the desert – is it just us or is that the best!?
Fourth of July
We were really happy to be in Show Low for the 4th of July! Not only was it about 30 degrees cooler, but we got to spend the day with family and friends celebrating our amazing country! On highlight for sure was Brody’s new found talent – playing cornhole. No joke, adults were jockeying to have him on their team! It was a blast and we loved watching our little guy kill it!
New Lens
For what seems like FOREVER we’ve been renting a key lens that we needed, especially for Jon as a second shooter – the 70-200mm. We are total believers in the Dave Ramsey principles of living a debt free lifestyle, and that overflows into our business decisions as well. So instead of jumping for equipment when we need it, we plan for it and wait until we can pay cash. Jon’s crazy happy to finally own this one, and already put it to work in our recent engagement session with Michelle and Jaimeson!
Small Wins
We like to celebrate the wins, no matter how small or big. Having something you can point to and feel good about accomplishing helps propel you to the next win! This week, Erica celebrated the small wins when she finalized and delivered some sessions to our clients. Our shooting schedule lately has been insane with more than half of the days of the month spent shooting plus our trip to Chicago! That time spent on the deck in Show Low editing photos paid off, and she knocked two more out of the park!
