Are you considering not even reading this blog because we dropped the “D” word at the top? Heavy right? Who likes to talk about discipline? If we’re honest, being disciplined at anything is tough. It takes a constant and conscious decision to force yourself to do something. Although the end results of discipline are results we typically long for, the process of arriving at that final result is often the OPPOSITE of what we feel like doing. As parents, we see this first hand as we raise our kids to be responsible, God-honoring, positive people in our society. As humans, we see it in ourselves with so many areas.
One of the biggest areas both of us have always wanted success in is our own personal fitness. It’s a disciplinary journey we’ve both started multiple times, but have never achieved. Part of that is because, like most things, you never truly ‘arrive.’ It’s a constant lifestyle change that flows through the core of every decision you make.
Jon, for example has been super focused in the past to train for Spartan and Tough Mudder Races. A couple of years ago, he completed the Spartan Trifecta (all three levels of their races) and the Tough Mudder in one season. It was the closest he had been to achieving his goals. And truthfully, although he completed that goal, it’s been a downhill slide since he finished.
A couple of weeks ago, we decided to give something new a try. We’ve heard a lot about the Transform App, and have even provided photos for it to Chris & Heidi Powell. One thing we hadn’t done? Try it for ourselves!
Guys, all we can say after working with the app for two weeks is that we feel like we have finally found a solution that is fun and truly transformational. Not every day is perfect, but we’re doing our best to make the life changes that will get us to our goals at a steady pace. It’s completely changing the way we think about food. For example, one of Jon’s favorite new tricks is using greek yogurt in place of sour cream in favorite dishes like taco salad or burrito bowls! (You know how we love our Mexican food!)
If you are looking for a fitness solution, we can’t recommend the Transform App any more highly. It’s taking some of the pain out of discipline, and for us, that means it’s setting us up for success!
