After a full day of travel and the next day spent out and around town and visiting White Sands, we were ready for a down day. We slept in a little, took the morning nice and slow, and enjoyed a few more cups of morning coffee than usual. It was super refreshing to have things slow down for a change! But just because we had a down day, doesn’t mean we didn’t pack it with a whole lot of fun!
Brody had been looking forward to this day the most! It was time to ride ‘the jeeps’ as he called them. The rest of us call them quads – or four wheelers. We spent all day outside riding with the kids and getting covered from head to toe in dirt and dust! Brody was into it from the beginning, but Paislee not so much. It took some serious coaxing (and even a little bribery) to get her on her first ride, but once she saw how much fun it was she was hooked!
Erica even learned something new! She learned how to ride the quad with the manual gear box and surprisingly – based on her experiences trying to drive stick – picked it up pretty quickly! That is, until Jon took off without realizing she was following him and she got stuck in a ditch. That aside – she killed it (and almost killed Jon in the process too 😉 ).
And of course, boys will be boys. Jon and Erica’s uncle Harv took some time at the end of the day to tear it up and play chase in the desert on the quads. They both came back a little sore, cut up from sharp branches, and completely filthy! It was a great day filled with so much fun, and one the kids are already begging to repeat!
