Once upon a time there was a princess. She lived in a castle with the king and queen and her big brother, prince charming. The princess had beautiful long hair with the perfect amount of curl in it. She had a little button nose that made for the sweetest profile that melted her queen mama’s heart. Her eyes were pure white with the prettiest hazel color right in the middle. And there was a beauty mark above the left side of her lip that she got from the king. But there was one thing that stood out the most to everyone she was around.
Her contagious joy!
Jesus made this princess so incredibly special. She became the best friend to the prince and she lit up the room with the smile that was always on her face. From the time that she learned how to sit up all on her own, she danced. If her papa blew in a water bottle to make a beat, she danced. If the king showed off his beat boxing skills, she danced. If “Welcome To New York” by the great Taylor Swift came on, she really danced. If it was a song in a commercial, a song in the grocery store or the ringtone on the queen’s phone, she danced. She even danced when she sang herself a song. To say that Jesus put the love of music in her, doesn’t even describe it. Her singing voice was prettier than any singing voice the king and queen had ever heard and it warmed their hearts every time they heard the princess sing.
The princess loved people and loved having fun. She was always so eager to learn and so excited to be creative and pretend all sorts of magical things. Even though she was a princess, she loved dressing up. Even if the princess was staying in for the day and playing at the castle, she still chose to wear a tulle skirt and twirl around every where she went through the castle. If anyone in her royal family got sick, she would stop to rub their head. And if their neck hurt, she’d place her tiny hand on their throats and rub away asking if their neck felt better. She had a heart of gold and anyone who knew her or any stranger passing by, stopped to tell her what a special little princess she was.
Paislee Mae, you are that princess. Your new favorite things are bedtime stories so the best way I could think to tell you how special you are to your dad, brother and I, is through a “once upon a time” story. You bring more joy to us than you know. Brody adores you and just told me last night that he would never, ever trade you in! You bring out the belly laugh in him and your dad and I could just sit and listen to it all day. You always bring out these ear deafening screams that I’m not sure where they come from but we’re working on that and one day, when you learn what to positively do with it, that sass will all work in your favor. We love how excited you get about life. You find joy in the smallest things and I pray that that never changes. As you turn 3 today our prayer is that you hide your bible verses deeper, and deeper in your heart. Your favorite verse is “B” – Be kind to one another – and I hope you always remember that. You’re only 3 years old but you have such a way of brightening people’s days and I pray that God continues to use you in that very special way. Please don’t ever stop telling us “I ‘nam’” when you’re saying “I am” and “I willn’t get hurt” when I ask you to please be careful when doing something.
You are my favorite daughter.
I love you so much that I can’t even express it in words.
We prayed for a very long time for you and it’s one of my favorite things to pray for you every day. I’m the luckiest mom in the world and beyond grateful to celebrate another birthday with you today. Happy, happy birthday, my beautiful baby girl!
Your letter was beautiful! I love her so much!
