From the moment she contacted us, we knew that working with Emmy was going to be a dream! Emmy is a designer with a serious eye for style, details, and all things creative. We were thrilled to work with her to plan and style her session for her new website for her business, Emmygination, and bring everything together for an amazing and productive photoshoot!
Emmy has incredible planning skills, yet she recognized that bringing all of the details together for a branding photoshoot can be a challenge. We worked with her to first figure out outfits for the session with an in-person wardrobe consultation! Erica loves working with our clients to style everything from outfits to accessories and props, and this was no exception! We then took the images of the selected outfits and built out her entire Branding Session Style Guide. Our style guides include planning for locations, outfits, and an over all shot list. We also build in photo inspiration to guide the session along with helpful reminders like a prop list and outfit list!
The goal for Emmy’s branding session was to show her completed design work, focus on lifestyle images and flat lays, and also incorporate the most important people in her life – her husband and business partner Keal and their Golden Retriever, Pancake! (Side note: Pancake is an amazing pup! After greeting us with excitement and hugs, she pretty much inserted herself perfectly into photos and we loved it!)
We started Emmy’s session capturing lifestyle images of her and Keal around their home with Pancake. We worked in her kitchen (#kitchengoals) and had so much fun styling the coffee and treats she had prepared. When it came time to move into the living room, Pancake helped herself into the photos in the most perfect way possible – as if she knew exactly what we needed! Oh and Emmy’s office – we’re still trying to figure out how we can take it over! Her clean white space with a backyard view had us easily seeing ourselves being productive in there!
One of our biggest challenges was creating variety in every location we photographed in. Emmy’s organization and planning skills were key to helping us conquer seven locations in our four hours together. Yes – SEVEN!! In our experience, creating variety takes pre-planned intentionality, and she nailed it!
We took photos at locations all across Scottsdale including Ruze Cake House, Sugar Bowl, Scottsdale Quarter, and our new favorite – The Scott! We could have planted ourselves at The Scott all day, but Jon and I decided that a much needed ‘company retreat’ needs to happen instead at a later date! 😉
Working with Emmy, Keal and Pancake was a dream! Not only was her style and vision for her shoot completely on point, but their contagious laughter and joyful spirits really made our time together something special. Let’s face it – outfit changes and moving quickly in 100 degree heat is a tall order that can drain anyone! But Emmy kept a smile on her face the entire time and the effort resulted in amazing images we can’t wait to see integrated into her rebrand! Take a look at some of the fun photos below!
