New working conditions call for a new workspace!! And to be honest… this our first ever official workspace! (Cue the clapping hands!)
We say this all the time, but Jon and I love to be together and believe it or not we even love to work together! There were many great things that Jon’s job brought us over the past 8 years but one of the hardest parts about his job was that he woke up and left early for work and was gone all. day. long.
We loved our time that we did get together but we always said that it was never enough. (Yes, we tend to be pretty greedy about the time we get together.) Now here we are working together, side-by-side 24/7. We thought it would be fun to share 5 of our favorite things about working from home together:
1. Singing together, off key and… on purpose! We’ve done this since we were dating. When Jon was home from college we would drive around and sing/harmonize as terrible as possible and it’s something we still do and laugh hysterically about!!
2. Getting to work in our cozies (aka sweats) on days that we just feel like it! Or even half & half! Like the one time Jon remembered about a video conference call 5 minutes before it was supposed to happen. All I can say is picture this: Clean, pressed, professional button down shirt on top. Sweaty, stinky, just-worked-out gym shorts on the bottom!!
3. Not only having more time for the two of us but having more time together as our family of 4, especially in the mornings! That’s another thing we are pretty greedy for – time with our awesome kiddos. We LOVE having time to drink coffee together while our kids drink their morning almond milk. It’s family time and it’s our time and we treasure every minute of it.
4. Being there to push and encourage each other. I’m not afraid to admit that I have a bad habit of grabbing my phone during my down time to check on social media. If I’m honest, we would all probably agree that that does not make for true down time because it consumes too much of your time and mind. Just barely two weeks into working from home Jon has already helped encourage me to create specific times of the day to allow for social media which is a perfect plan. I also don’t think he will let me get away with taking naps when I should be writing a blog post anymore…
5. Being able to divide and conquer, while still being together! There are certain aspects of our business that land in Jon’s zone more than mine and vice versa and now we get to share the load and be more efficient with running our business.
We could go on and on, but those are our 5 favorite things about working together (so far). And of course we love our little workspace, built into the back corner of our living room where we can sit together and dream big together!
