Our Top 10 Jobs

These days, most everyone knows us as Erica & Jon – the photographers. And we certainly don’t mind being known for one of our biggest passions and career choice! But the truth is, we wouldn’t have pegged ourselves as wedding and lifestyle photographers growing up. As kids, we dreamed big dreams and had huge ambitions. When you’re a kid you can be anything! We feel so fortunate to feel like we are living out our dream, but we also thought it would be fun to share our Top 10 Jobs if we weren’t photographers! Some of these might surprise you!

Erica

1. Interior Designer: I love decorating!! The look on Jon’s face is SO predictable whenever I tell him I walked into one of my favorite stores, but he sure loves the way it makes our home feel refreshing and practical
2. Event Planner/Coordinator: Along with my passion for decorating, I absolutely get crazy excited about planning events. Any event. Happy sixth Wednesday of 2017 party? I’m in!! Every holiday, birthday, or anniversary planned with every little detail and is so much fun 🙂
3. Teacher: While I’m reconsidering this after being a chaperone for Brody’s first grade class field trip, I always loved the idea of being a teacher! After a day on a bus with a bunch of sweaty, gassy, and energetic kiddos, I have a whole new appreciation for the teachers in the world! God bless you guys!!
4. Pediatrician: OK so this probably was never destined for reality. I get faint and nauseous at the smallest medical event! But I always thought that being a pediatrician would be a fun and rewarding job. Instead, I get to be a mom to two amazing kids, which carries part time pediatric duties along with it!
5. Kelly Kapowski: Saved By the Bell anyone? I have always been a huge fan of that show. Naturally, I wanted to be Kelly Kapowski. And not just be the actor who portrays her. I wanted to BE Kelly Kapowski. The 90’s style, puffy bangs, and Zack Morris all still speak to me!!

Jon

1. Rock Star: In my dreams I achieved this status. In reality, we were a really untalented high school punk rock band! But it should count that Erica was one of our biggest fans right? I love that I get to put my rock star ambitions to work by leading worship at our church. The focus is completely different, it’s not about me being a rock star, but about glorifying the Creator of the universe – so I’m good with that 🙂
2. Test Driver: What little boy doesn’t think cars are the most amazing things ever made? While today’s kids might have trouble being inspired by the Nissan Leaf or Toyota Prius, my dreams were fueled by the 1967 Ford Mustang – my dream car! I always wanted to be a car test driver and get paid to test the limits of sports cars!
3. Hunting Guide: Although this dream job wasn’t a childhood dream, I’m still counting it! It’s an adulthood dream! I love the outdoors and think that being able to enjoy them constantly while making other people’s hunting dreams come true would be an amazing way to make a living. 4. Chef: I am a terrible cook. I am very skilled at burning anything. But I love good food. So this one might take the cake for me, but it would require an entire skill set that God hasn’t seen fit to provide me with.
5. Barista: Erica and I both love coffee. There have definitely been points in my life where coffee may have been the only liquid intake I could count for the day. That is still a constant battle, but it’s getting better! 🙂
