Nine years. Waking up this morning I’m kind of pinching myself. On one hand it seems like ages ago that we finally stood before our friends and family and made a commitment to each other and to God to love each other no matter what. In the same sentence, it seems like we’re just barely getting started. At nine years I still feel like we’re rookies. That could be because of the room we stand in, full of example after example of fulfilled vows and loving relationships. But I also think it’s because our love is still young at heart. I love that.
The last year plus has been a crazy ride! We made some of the biggest life changes anyone could make. We faced uncertainty, fear, and doubt in the eyes and didn’t blink. Together, we became closer as the pressure became greater. We learned to rely on each other even more. We’ve gotten more in tune with our strengths and how we compliment each other in so many ways. We’ve become more focused on what matters most and where our real strength comes from as we’ve spent more time praying together and seeking direction for our future and our business. It’s been a growing process, and I love that we’ve walked through it hand in hand for every. single. step.
I love that our love is young. I love that we go to bed at the same time together almost every night. I love that we still wait for the other person before we jump into a bed with freshly washed sheets, and that both of us have literally sat on the floor waiting on the other person to keep that a thing. I love that we’re not too ‘grown up’ to snuggle every night. I love the surprises we get excited to bring each other. Most of all, I love the person you’ve encouraged me to become.
I’m a better man, husband, dad, and business owner because of your love and constant encouragement.
Last year, we celebrated our anniversary by officially stepping out to pursue our dreams together. This year, I’m so excited to be celebrating 9 of the best years of my life spent with you, our first full year in business together, and the amazing future God has in store for us.
