When you combine one of the greatest friends any girl would wish to have and a guy who is possibly more interesting than the Dos Equis man – you know, ‘the most interesting man in the world’ – you can begin to understand the amazing couple we not only had the privilege to photograph but that we are also so blessed to call some of our greatest friends!
Our move to the PNW has changed the amount of time we get to spend with them now, but back from the time they started dating Caleb and Whitney have always been one of our favorite couples. The amount of fun they have together is contagious to be around and they never fail to make us laugh. Whether it’s Caleb’s reaction to Whitney pulling into the driveway with a completely flat tire on a vehicle they borrowed from his dad, or Whitney texting Caleb “911! Emergency! Call me!” just so she could get permission to buy tickets for the women’s retreat we were going to, the humor between the two of them is so entertaining. I mean come on, you gotta give the girl some credit. We needed an answer and we needed it fast before the tickets sold out!
I seriously don’t have enough blog space to talk about all of my favorite memories that Whitney and I have made together over the past 16 years, but can I just say that we used to call each other ‘bosom’ while driving around town in her red Pathfinder that we named “Bertha”!? As grown women, wives, and moms now, we’ve abbreviated our nickname to a much more sophisticated ‘B’. What stands out to me most about Whitney is her constant encouragement in every season of life. She always points me back to Christ and reminds me of who I am in Him. When I’m celebrating or when I’m struggling, she is there to support me and that’s the biggest blessing I’ve always appreciated about our friendship.
As long as I’ve known Caleb he has always been a part of something super cool. He’s always been running a business or touring with bands or flipping houses or being featured in small publications like the Huffington Post! (Hopefully you caught my sarcasm there!) These days Caleb has built himself a very successful real estate business. Jon has always wondered how the heck Caleb does it all and told me he now came to the conclusion that Caleb must have figured out a way to outsource sleep! Caleb didn’t ask (or pay ;)) us to say this, but if you are in the Phoenix area and need a killer realtor, look him up or message us for his number. He’s a go getter and will not disappoint you!
It’s such a blessing to have a friendship that began when we were just kids and that has now continued all along through us getting married and having kiddos of our own! This is one of my favorite seasons in our friendship, and if you saw their Bentlee Rae and our Brody James together, you would instantly understand why. Those two are the cutest and it started all on their own from very early on. You can’t separate them when they are together – they’re always hugging or holding hands, and then hugging some more! Bentlee wraps her arms around Brody and refuses to let go. There’s not questioning what miss Bentlee thinks of their friendship – and she makes sure we all know about it too. In the middle of their family session, she gets everyone’s attention and with all the drama a four year old can muster says, “Mom, Brody is….beautiful….and………GLORIOUS!” They follow that up with grabbing hands and walking off into the sunset at the end of the shoot – literally. The sun was setting in perfect Arizona style and off they walked away from us holding hands and so not interested in anything else going on! I wouldn’t mind it one bit for Bentlee to be my daughter in law one day and I’m perfectly happy to go ahead and arrange that right now :). Unfortunately, the dang distance between AZ and WA haven’t given Paislee and Nash the same opportunity yet, but they will catch up!
I know it’s cliche to say but, their family is picture perfect and were so fun to photograph as they wrapped up the last of our Arizona sessions. My favorite part about their photos was knowing that it’s not just their family of four anymore, but of FIVE! Whitney is pregnant with their third beautiful baby and it’s one of the most exciting things to watch God continue to bless these guys! I can’t wait for the trip back when I get to meet baby Moses – at least that’s Bentlee’s vote for her new baby sister’s name.
