She lives life to the fullest, makes the most out of every day, and always has a way of finding the bright side in any situation…..and in every single drive-thru restaurant. If you are sitting there wondering what the heck I mean, I’ll try and paint the picture for you.
Growing up, Sherri would pull up to a drive-thru (she seemed to favor Taco Bell, Arby’s, and Wendy’s) and in her best foreign accent she would explain that she was from out of town and had never been to **mispronounce restaurant name** before. She would then tell them that she really wanted to test the food before she bought it and wanted to sample their menu. Best part – 9 times out of 10 we would leave with samples! My favorite was when she would score us a frosty from Wendy’s or the cinnamon twists from Taco Bell. You’re probably thinking, ‘Who does this stuff?!’ but Sherri does! And that’s one of the reasons she was always one of my favorite friends to hang out with. Not only did she feed me for free, but she ALWAYS had me cracking up. Whether it was her silly drive-thru antics or her contagious laugh, she’s the friend that has always known how to cheer me up.
My sister and I always felt like we gained a ‘bonus’ sister in Sherri. She used to get in trouble with my mom for saying “freaking” and when my sister got married soon after high school and moved to another state, the friendship between Sherri and I was made even stronger. I remember all of our late nights talking about our crushes while eating red vines. One night in particular, she beat me home from work and was sitting in our living room with chocolate teddy grahams to help cheer me up from a situation with a boy I was upset over. (Don’t worry, I don’t think she stole the teddy grahams from the store 😉 ). I have always appreciated Sherri. When I look back on her being like another sister to me and when I look back on two years ago when she gave up a day to come over and recover our rocking chair so that it would perfectly fit into the new nursery we were creating, I see that I’m such a lucky girl to have such a thoughtful, selfless, and caring friend like her!
We watched each other walk through the different stages of life growing up together, and each had the honor of being bridesmaids for each other’s weddings. It’s friendships like these that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Sherri, now that you are entering into this new season of motherhood, I am literally so ecstatic for you. I know without a doubt that you are going to be an incredible mom because of how I’ve seen you be SO good to my own two kids since the day they were born. Everest Lee Keller (ELK! How cool is that??!) is already a blessed little guy for the mom and dad that he has. Zac, I haven’t talked a whole lot about you in this post, but I’m equally excited for you in becoming a dad. I can only imagine the determination and adventurous personality Everest will have after taking after you!
