To our beautiful and sweet Paislee Mae,
Well I didn’t even get one line in without having to take my glasses off because of the tears flooding out. Celebrating you turning TWO years old today just doesn’t seem possible. Right now this time two years ago your nana had me speed walking laps at the rec center to initiate going into labor with you and she wasn’t kidding when she said that we weren’t going to stop walking until it worked. It worked. And right after that walk I went to my doctors appointment where he confirmed that I was in fact in labor. I remember every second of that day as if it just happened yesterday and it’s one of my top 3 favorite days ever!
There’s not a day that has gone by these last two years where I haven’t felt like the luckiest mama to have you as my daughter. You have so much joy about life and I love your determination, your independence (even though it forces us as parents to let go of things earlier than we would have wanted to), and I love how you talk to me non-stop all day long. Even on the days I tell daddy that I feel like I haven’t had a second to think because you have been talking to me all day long – I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I mean it literally when I sing to you that “you make me happy when skies are grey” (which happens to be more often than not during the winter).
We want you to know how incredibly smart you are! You blow us away with how clearly you can tell on your brother when he does something to you, or even when he doesn’t! It’s one of my favorite things to sit and listen to you tell me the colors and shapes on your Minnie Mouse puzzle and I love hearing you sing Jesus Love Me and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I’m betting this has A LOT to do with you being a little girl, but you’ve blown me away with knowing how and what to accessorize with and with dressing yourself. You didn’t even give me a chance to show you how to put your socks and pants on – you just did it. Even if both of the socks end up on your right foot every time, you’re still killing it with style and I don’t know if I should be more worried or impressed since you’re only two…
We want you to know how much joy you bring us! You light up all of our days when you wake up saying “hi” to everyone with your cute little voice. You’re hilarious and you know just how to crack us up, especially Brody and even if that causes him to instigate you doing or saying naughty things, you still know what you’re doing and it’s funny. And yes, we laugh but we don’t let you see us laughing. We don’t know which one of us you got them from (most likely daddy) but your dance moves put a smile on our faces. When your jams come on, we can’t help but stop what we are doing and watch you move! The way you laugh at your inside jokes with your brother is another favorite thing of ours that you do. You love to laugh and giggle and it’s SO contagious!
We want you to know how BEAUTIFUL you are! We think you are such a pretty little girl. Your long and crazy hair and your bright eyes are my favorite! But we also want you to know how beautiful you are on the inside! The way you rub your brother’s head when he gets hurt, the way you love on your baby dolls and even on real life babies is the sweetest, and how you love people is the greatest. Whether it’s our own big family, our friends from church, or strangers walking inside of Costco, you don’t ever hesitate to initiate the hug or the little wave with a “hi”! I can’t help but think that some of those strangers might have needed just that to brighten up their day! I love how even at two years old you have a positive affect on people. Don’t ever change that because Jesus tells us that the greatest gift of all, is LOVE!
I could go on and on with more but we also want to stick to proper blog etiquette and keep it short and sweet. But for one final note, we want you to know how LOVED you are. Mommy and daddy love you more than you will ever know. I don’t even know how to type out how much we love you so I won’t try, but it’s more than we can measure or express. And your big brother loves you this (_________________________*arms open wide* _________________________) much!! It’s a lot and I can see it every day. I see how brave you help him to be and I watch how much fun he has with you. I know you can feel how much he loves and care for you. Most importantly, we want you to know how much God loves you!! I love that you point to your heart and tell me that Jesus lives in there. I can’t wait for the day you ask us to pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart like Brody did. Jesus made you and He made you SO INCREDIBLY special! He made you for the big plans He has in store for you. He will always be with you and He will always guide and protect you. Our biggest prayer is that you will trust Him and hide His truths down deep in your heart and love Him more and more every day!
Happy birthday, baby girl! I was going to try and quit calling you “baby” but the truth is, is you’re our baby and you always will be!!
Love,
Mommy & Daddy
