One of our favorite things about being photographers is that we get to meet such awesome people and hear their own unique and personal stories. So many of the people we have met through our business lift us up and encourage us through what they share with us and Debra and Dale were no exception as they shared with us how they met.
Debra and Dale both grew up in the same small town in Northern California but never knew each while living there. It wasn’t until later on in life when they both moved to Vancouver that their circle of friends finally closed in small enough and they met each other. I love that!! It’s like something straight out of a movie where you grow up just miles away from someone, never meet, and then you both move to an entirely different state and fall in love! Their love for each other just beamed from their faces and their excitement for their upcoming wedding day was so contagious.
We initially planned and scheduled their engagement session to land perfectly on a beautiful sunny day but if there’s one thing we have learned about living in the Pacific Northwest, it’s that the weather man has a VERY easy job up here. It’s as if one minute he clicks on the dark cloud emoji and then 30 minutes later he selects the bright yellow sun emoji and then, changes his mind again and puts up a little snowflake combined with a thermometer. (For 27 years of my life my winters consisted of sunny and 75 degree winters so if you’re like me and don’t know what that sign indicates – it’s okay! I looked it up though and it signifies freezing rain. Yes, that is a real thing.) Sunday was no exception – the sun came out and then hid itself just in time for complete cloud coverage during their shoot combined with a light drizzle and we couldn’t. have. been. any. happier!! The clouds worked perfectly as an even light diffuser and we were able to bust out our cute clear bubble umbrella for some sweet pictures of them!
Debra and Dale, you guys were so much fun! We loved our time with you and were so honored to take your engagement photos. Here’s to happily married in Hawaii in 2017!!
