Think with me for a minute about a picture that you have either taken yourself or had taken for you that made you FEEL something. Maybe that picture made you smile from ear to ear or literally made you laugh out loud! Maybe the second you saw that picture it made you well up with tears or even burst into tears. I’m sure that picture is extremely special to you and one of your “go-to” pictures for printing and hanging in your house or using as the wallpaper on your phone and sharing on your social media.
We mean every bit of it when Jon and I say that “we are honored” when our clients hire us to photograph their family, senior year, or their wedding day! As much as it is an incredibly fun job it is also a job that we take on with great responsibility because our goal is to capture EVERY SINGLE EMOTION as it is happening, and we will do WHATEVER it takes to do just that. There is something SO rewarding to be able to deliver pictures to our clients that provide them with memories that they might not have had otherwise. Pictures that cannot be duplicated and images that make them feel something from the raw emotion we were able to capture as it happened.
Let’s face it, family sessions (especially ones with little kids) can be stressful for the parents! I’m sure most parents would agree that the majority of the time during the shoot, they are making sure everyone’s outfits stay in place, that the kids’ hands are down and out of their mouths and eyes, and that they came prepared with enough bribes and snacks to keep any meltdowns from happening! In the mix of doing all of that they might have missed the way their kiddos smiled up at them or how happy they all looked when they laughed at Jon being a goofball behind the scenes.
And I think a wedding day speaks for itself. There are SO many things going on that it’s incredibly easy for the bride and groom to get through the whole day and not remember moments like their sweet grandparents tearing up during the wedding vows or the heart melting look on the father of the bride’s face when he gives her away. They might not remember all the hugs they gave out to all of their guests that came or every handpicked detail of their reception. Or the looks on their faces when they saw each other for the first time during their ‘first look’, taking some time for themselves on their wedding day.
If you’re a high school senior, it’s not every day that someone does hair and makeup for you and then you get taken out only for Jon and I to photograph you as if you’re modeling for a magazine cover! The emotions on your face are PRICELESS and we get to take pictures of it all to show you how beautiful YOU really are.
Those are the types of pictures we CANNOT wait to deliver the second we get done with a shoot, and the ones that make us feel like a million bucks because we are providing memories for people that they can share for years to come.
