When we discovered Zoodles for the first time a few months ago, we thought we’d seen (and eaten!) the most incredible food idea…ever! And when we found out that our amazing fiends and clients at Babbo Italian Eatery served up every pasta dish on their menu with zoodles made on the spot in their kitchen during our previous photoshoot, we thought we’d seen it all! That all came to an abrupt but welcome end as we were introduced into another new dish on their menu during our last shoot!
Ready for this!?
Cauliflower pizza crust.
That’s right – cauliflower. If you thought cauliflower mashed ‘potatoes’ were a great idea, wait until you try this! The pizza came out from the kitchen with a golden brown crust and a beautifully melted cheese and pepperoni topping. It looked on all accounts like a regular pizza. Our biggest curiosity was of course the crust! Would it taste good? Would it be crispy or soggy? Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t food critics. We were just there to photograph the food, but that doesn’t mean we don’t wonder for our own benefit! One bite was all it took to sell us on the cauliflower crust pizza! It had a slightly earthy taste to it compared to a normal dough crust and the crispy crunch was amazing! We’re convinced that if you didn’t know it was a cauliflower crust, you wouldn’t know it was a cauliflower crust!
We worked with Babbo to continue creating content for their social media profiles, email campaigns and other digital advertising! We feel like we say this every time, but this family is absolutely amazing! Their heart and pride shows through in everything they do and most of all in how they treat everyone – customers, vendors, and employees alike! We finished photographing their menu items for their new online ordering platform and came across one other gem in the process that we couldn’t get enough of – stuffed churros! It’s what you get when you cross a churro with a cannoli and the result is a melt in your mouth cinnamon sugar confection with a creamy cannoli filling! It was all we could do not to eat the entire platter after photographing it! Self control, guys – serious self control! By this point in this blog post, we’re thinking we might have a real crack at this food critic thing in addition to being Phoenix food photographers!
Take a look at some of the always delicious menu items below, but only if you’re ready to be hungry!
