We're Erica + Jon, professional photographers, Mr + Mrs and Mom + Dad. We like to share insights into our industry, behind the scenes and stories about our life and chips + salsa obsession.
With coffee in one hand and white boards in another, we headed down the steps to the train. A totally foreign mode of transportation that we’d be getting very acquainted with over the next few days. We learned quickly that you don’t wait politely to board the train – you just kind of hop (or force yourself) on. As we squeezed ourselves onto the standing room only morning commuter train, we stood quiet. We slowly took in everything around us and asked ourselves if this was really happening. We arrived at our stop, walked off the train and up to the street level with Guaranteed Rate Field towering above us. This was going to be our office for the day as we worked again with the Chicago White Sox, this time on their home turf, and it seemed completely unreal.
We received our special security badges and walked with Samantha through the player’s tunnel and out onto the field. Samantha is the Merchandising Manager for the White Sox and our amazing contact with the organization. We knew we loved working with her after shooting with them at Spring Training, but we enjoyed getting to know her even better on this trip. She’s an excellent tour guide and an amazing planner! She had Pinterest boards full of inspiration prepared for us and had models ready that rotated in shifts throughout the entire day! It was pure perfection and allowed us to be so efficient at capturing tons of content for them!
Standing on a professional sports field is truly awe inspiring – everything looks so much bigger at ground level! We were thrilled to work on and around the field, utilizing their beautiful stadium for the photos! One of our favorite spots to shoot was their ‘selfie spot’ which over looked the Chicago skyline. It was simply beautiful! Erica even jumped in to model for a few photos – can you spot her below!? We also were blown away by Samantha’s surprise – showing us our photos blown up and used all over their team store to advertise their apparel! It was a surreal experience, and they must be convincing photos because we loaded up on White Sox gear! 😉
As if shooting at the field all day wasn’t enough, Samantha was kind enough to treat us to the game that evening which completely made it official – we’re White Sox fans, guys! They opened the game with back to back home runs which made us wonder if we were a little but of a good luck charm?? It was an amazing experience we will never forget!
Take a look at some of the photos from our day with them below!
