When there’s a Will, there’s a way…pun ABSOLUTELY intended since this is our blog post on Will and Jill’s session!
There aren’t a whole lot of conditions in Arizona that can prevent a photo shoot from happening. We are slowly getting used to the unpredictable weather in the PNW and how to work with it and not against it. But I always say that shooting in AZ is like an equation for photographers – you can pick the time and location and know exactly the type of light and outcome you will get for your session. Of course, there’s the extreme summer heat that you try to avoid or the short monsoon season complete with random haboobs (yep, it’s a real thing – just google it) that might force a reschedule, but otherwise you pretty much always know what to expect.
But there are a lot of other things besides the weather that can happen and throw a wrench in your plans. Eight days before leaving for Arizona, and before Will and Jill’s scheduled couple’s photo session, she sent me a text saying that Will had broken his nose playing basketball and was having it reset just SIX days before we were scheduled to take their photos! Trying to reschedule in this case just wasn’t an option since we were only there for a limited number of days. So, we all decide to go for it! After all, we guessed that the worst that could happen is maybe he’d have to let Jill put a little make up on it or that we could always pose him backwards for the majority of the photos. But the day of the shoot, they removed the bandages and had a sigh of relief seeing that everything was back to normal!
Jill and I met through mutual friends and even attended the same high school together. Turns out Will did too, but I never knew him! What I really love is that Will & Jill went to high school together and graduated without even knowing each other! They met after high school through a friend and dated for seven years and have now been married for two!
We loved our time with this gorgeous couple. Just look at them! They were a complete dream to work with. All I had to say was, “Will…” and he would automatically make the exact adjustment I was hoping for. We had the perfect setting out near the Salt River with wild horses in the distance and a dreamy desert sunset to top it all off. Even with an incident that came close to us having to cancel a shoot, our work in AZ was smooth sailing, once again, aside from Will and Jill having to take it easy when I had them pull each other in nice and close and nuzzle up nose to nose!
Love this! You captured it all so beautifully!
You guys are the best! Thanks for making our session so special and making us look so great 🙂
