Hot tamales. Twizzler bites. Peanut butter M&M’s. And buffalo wing flavored pretzels. Lots of them. Which we affectionately referred to as “crack.” It all filled the bowls on top of the table that were strategically planted in the unending sea of scrapbooking supplies. It just wasn’t a real scrapbooking weekend without all of the necessities. Our layouts were sprawled out across any open space left on the table. There were stacks of printed pictures waiting to be glued to a page. And enough embellishments, buttons, and flowers to make it look like we were in business to sell the stuff. We would pack our bags, load up our cars, and head to the house of whoever’s turn it was to play host.
Now, some of you may be thinking, ‘Wow, that scrapbooking weekend sounds pretty intense.” And the truth is, yes, it was! There was Erica, Tina (her mom), Michelle (one of Erica’s best childhood friends) and her mom Lisa. There was Julie, someone who poured into Erica since she was in Junior High School and Jodie, a long-time friend of ours. We would all get together and sit for days with only one focus – scrapbooking! We’d stay the night, pre-plan meals, work with each other on layouts and snack all day. Intense? Yes. But it made for some of the most incredible girl’s weekends.
And it was with these ladies that Erica made some of her all-time, absolute best memories with Tina, Lisa and Julie. Not only were Lisa and Julie some of her mom’s own best friends, they were both influential in Erica’s childhood and young adult life, and are now friends of her own. The three of them are all ladies of character who demonstrate how to love God, raise a family, and enjoy life to the fullest. And who can’t get behind those things?!
